Colgate are a proud partner of the European Federation of Periodontology and are providing support in sharing their suggestions, the EFP have released a series of infographics to aid the management of Dental Clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Europe begins to reopen dental clinics, dental professionals are implementing specific measures to protect themselves and their patients from the infectious risk of COVID-19. The EFP have compiled the most current evidence and clinical observations and represented the advice in a series of easy to implement infographics. These refer to each stage of the patient journey in the dental clinic.
The EFP infographics describe step by step, each stage of the clinical process for example: Starting with an initial patient triage and suggesting a comprehensive list of questions, right through to the clinical staff doffing. The infographics highlight the level of scientific evidence supporting each suggestion, by an easy to use colour coordinated key differentiating between patients and clinical staff at the bottom of each image.
It is important to recognise these are not guidelines, rather a set of suggestions developed by a trusted European Scientific Organisation based on the initial state of evidence and clinical experience regarding dental management during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. As evidence is further generated, this guidance may change. You must consult your local and national authority. Both prior to implementing safety and management measures into your dental clinic and after, to constantly review information for new recommendations.
The infographics can be found on the EFP website https://www.efp.org/publications/EFP-Infographic-COVID19.pdf, which can as well be consulted for future updates as more scientific evidence becomes available.
