WEBINAR SERIES, 2nd – 4th December 2020

INTRODUCTION

The British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (BASCD) is the UK’s professional association for the science, philosophy and practice of promoting oral health in society.  We work with and support partners to improve population oral health and reduce health inequalities. We believe in health promotion, disease prevention and health protection.

BASCD members skilled in translating evidence into policy and practice have been responding to the coronavirus pandemic from both a generic and dental public health perspective. Working with partners they have been instrumental in the response and adapting to the “new normal”.

This webinar series entitled Evidence, Policy and Practice, the realities of COVID-19 and dentistry reflects on the past year, the barriers and opportunities and how we can use our new learning during such an unusual time to plan for the future. Our goals being to ensure that population oral health is not neglected – not only from a dental treatment perspective but also remembering disease prevention, oral health improvement and of course health protection.

Our eminent speakers have been at the coal face of the rapid appraisal of evidence related to COVID-19, contributing to and implementing national policy responding to the pandemic as well as the realities of dental service delivery.

Each webinar will be one hours duration; following introductions, the speakers will present for 30 minutes, this will give plenty of time for you to ask questions about their experiences and how we face the challenges going forwards.
